Why Academy and Not a Team?

Research shows the massive benefit for U6 and U7 players getting more touches on the ball through 2v2, 3v3, and 4v4 play. More touches per player means more development. Players will learn to compete, dominate the ball, and fall in love with the game in this academy program so they can excel in the years to come.

Our Academy Director Luciano Estrada oversees the development of all players in our program. Luciano holds his USSF B license and has experience coaching in and leading the US Soccer DA programs, developing and identifying top talent. He and our coaching team bring a wealth of experience and excitement to the field. Expect to fall in love with the game and develop!

What are you doing about COVID19?

Our players’ health and safety is our top priority. We take our health and safety restrictions extremely seriously so that we can do our best to protect every player, family, coach, and member of our community. We are following the CDC and local health and safety guidelines as well as using best practices agreed on by health supervisors and other clubs in our community. Peninsula Mission

Our mission is to create a challenging and fun learning environment where every child is pushed to their potential as a soccer player while also aided in building important life skills such as leadership, dedication, hard work, and teamwork.

Peninsula Style of Play

Aggressive but thoughtful attacking possession that looks to outplay opponent through superior positioning, awareness, decision making, and execution. Players value the ball in all parts of the field but are confident in taking risks, breaking lines, and committing numbers in the attack.

Ruthless defending in an organized, proactive way- we set up our defense during our attack (angles and positioning/ connection between lines allows us to transition quickly). We aim to take away space and get the ball back as high up the field as possible.

FAQs

What can I expect from Peninsula coaching?

We believe that players have the most fun when they are truly becoming better and learning to work towards a common goal with their team. If you love the game and want to improve and challenge yourself every day, this is the place for you. We have teams from entry level to the National Premier League- if you have a great attitude and show potential, we will do our best to find the right fit for you.

How do I know if Peninsula is the right fit for me?

What’s the season length?

We are on a year long model with official tryouts and new team formation in May each year, however, we always welcome new players looking for a place to play! Teams play a Fall and Spring season with breaks over summer and winter (length of breaks depend on age and playing level of the team).

Fall season is generally from August- November/ December depending on tournaments. Spring season training generally begins in late February/ early March and ends in late May/ mid June.

We offer various camps and clinics throughout the year for those players who are seeking more opportunity. These include skills clinics, striker clinics, GK training, Summer Camps, Spring break camps, SAQ clinics, and more.

When and where are practices and games?

All practices and home games take place on our Foster City Fields- Port Royal, Catamaran, Edgewater, and Boothbay. Practices are usually 4-5:30 and 5:30-7 during the week. Games are played on weekends- with all home games being played on our local Foster City fields and most away games up and down the Peninsula, within 30 minutes of Foster City.

Teams that train 3x per week can expect a minimum 45 sessions for the Fall and 32 in Spring. Teams that train 2x per week can expect a minimum 32 sessions for Fall and 32 in Spring. League play generally consists of 8-12 games. Our Academy Program has 12 week series in Fall and Spring.

How much does it cost?

Each team has slightly different cost, as some teams add extra tournaments, trainings, and team activities. These extras are agreed upon by coach and team in advance. Here’s our general pricing:

  • 9v9 and 11v11 teams - generally 45 practices per season (3x per week) + 7-10 games per season + 1 tournament per season. ($975 per season).

  • 5v5/7v7 teams- generally 32 practices per season (2x per week). + 7-10 games per season + 1 tournaments per season. ($850 per season for 2 sessions and $975 for 3 sessions).

  • Academy Program for players born 2014-15-16: 12 week series in Fall and Spring. 24 sessions and 3 playdates. ($500 each season).

Why choose Peninsula?

We have experienced, professional coaches, an accessible, honest director, and fantastic fields. We will put you on the pathway to success, and if we can’t meet your needs we, will help you find the right fit, even if it’s somewhere else.

We help players get to elite programs such as PDP and ODP, ECNL, and NPL. We provide showcase opportunities by hosting college ID camps and sending our teams to tournaments like San Diego Surf Cup, Las Vegas College Showcase, and Davis Showcase, among others.

We are always looking to inspire and develop our players. Every month we hold a Motivational Series- a free webinar where we bring in a specialist to inspire our players and coaches. Some examples from the series: College Recruiting Presentation, UCLA Athletics Nutritionist, sports psychologist, professional striker from Man Utd, Tommy Thompson from the SJ Quakes, UC Davis Athletic Trainer, and more. We educate and inspire!

We have fantastic programs and events like taking the club to local collegiate games, a Youth Coach Program, annual charity event, and club-wide potluck (some programs have been suspended during COVID).
