Fall Soccer 2020 - Return To Play Protocol
Return To Play Procedures & Safety Protocol

Hi Peninsula Families,
We are good to go for August 1st!
For the first 3-4 weeks we will plan to have teams train 2-3 times per week for one hour at a time with their teams and team coach. There will be many restrictions on training- including groups of 12 players max so there will be a lot of logistics to sort through.
Teams will be divided into groups of 12. For teams with more than 12- the coach will divide the group into 2 different sessions OR move the extra players to one of their other team groups. We are working to get as close to 12 per group as possible.
Since the grouping will be fixed for 3-4 weeks, it is critical that we get a sense for who exactly will be returning to ON FIELD activity. Please work closely with your coaches and managers to bring clarity on who will return to the field so that we solidify group rosters.
1) Confirm with your team coach if you are IN for in person training, and register here if you have not done so: https://peninsulayouthsoccer.sportngin.com/register/form/800050348. We are putting together stable groups of 12 for training sessions so we need to know true numbers to move forward with our schedule. Reminder- registration cost is $50. You will be billed in even monthly payments starting Sept 1. Cost will be adjusted based on what we are able to do on the field (look back to scenarios shared).
2) Communicate to your coach AND to the club if you registered but do not plan to return to in person training – We are prioritizing on field opportunities but will also have great fully virtual options for those that are not comfortable returning to play.
What the Soccer Will Look Like During Phase 1:
- Each training group (team) will have a maximum of 12 players
- Each training group must operate in consistent 3 week groups
- No changes can be made to the groups once training has begun. Players can miss sessions, but we are not allowed to add new players into the group beyond the 12-player max for the full three weeks.
- Groups will be comprised of your team with your team coach
- Each player must bring their own ball which will be sprayed with disinfectant prior and after the session
- Players will maintain a minimum of 6 feet distance at all times during training
- The first Phase will have ZERO contact. Only activities that maintain 6+ feet of distancing between players will be permitted.
Activities may include individual skill building and technique on the ball, passing, shooting.
Health and Safety Measures:
We will be taking the health and safety restrictions extremely seriously so that we can do our best to protect every player, family, coach, and member of our community. We will be following the CDC and local health and safety guidelines as well as using best practices agreed on by health supervisors and other clubs in our community.
A detailed view of club health and safety measures here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BDK2et63il58sYNY0mDAiHnFocytHMAAjQqgOmD3dRU/edit?usp=sharing
- Stable groups of 12 for 3 weeks minimum for contact tracing
- Player check ins with health and safety screening and temperature checks will be performed by coaches or volunteer personnel prior to every session
- Arrival and pick up times will be staggered between groups to mitigate exposure. You will have an exact arrival and departure time that is unique to your group.
- Coaches will be masked at all times.
- All coaches and staff will be trained to meet the health and safety standards
- All players and families will have a virtual health and safety training to prioritize safety and minimize exposure.
What to bring:
- Soccer Ball
- Please have your cleats ON before getting out of the car
- Your own water bottle- no sharing will be permitted
- Your mask- players are asked wear masks for arrival and departure. They may choose to train without a mask.
- Hand sanitizer will be available but you are welcome to bring your own cleaning products.
Bathroom usage:
- Bathrooms will be open from 3pm-8pm on week days and during operating hours on weekends.
- Bathrooms will be cleaned by Foster City officials at the start and end of the day (and once in between in weekends).
- We advise you to use the bathroom only in case of emergency. Bathrooms will not be cleaned during sessions and usage is at your own risk. (We have amended practice times to minimize need for restroom use).
We are so excited to hit the fields with you this August!
Please let us know if you have any questions or if you’re willing to help!
