Considerations for participating in upcoming training and events during he Holidays.
By Joel Snyder 23 Jul, 2020
Hi Peninsula Families, We are good to go for August 1st! For the first 3-4 weeks we will plan to have teams train 2-3 times per week for one hour at a time with their teams and team coach. There will be many restrictions on training- including groups of 12 players max so there will be a lot of logistics to sort through. Teams will be divided into groups of 12. For teams with more than 12- the coach will divide the group into 2 different sessions OR move the extra players to one of their other team groups. We are working to get as close to 12 per group as possible. Since the grouping will be fixed for 3-4 weeks, it is critical that we get a sense for who exactly will be returning to ON FIELD activity. Please work closely with your coaches and managers to bring clarity on who will return to the field so that we solidify group rosters. 1) Confirm with your team coach if you are IN for in person training , and register here if you have not done so: https://peninsulayouthsoccer.sportngin.com/register/form/800050348 . We are putting together stable groups of 12 for training sessions so we need to know true numbers to move forward with our schedule. Reminder- registration cost is $50. You will be billed in even monthly payments starting Sept 1. Cost will be adjusted based on what we are able to do on the field (look back to scenarios shared). 2) Communicate to your coach AND to the club if you registered but do not plan to return to in person training – We are prioritizing on field opportunities but will also have great fully virtual options for those that are not comfortable returning to play. What the Soccer Will Look Like During Phase 1: Each training group (team) will have a maximum of 12 players Each training group must operate in consistent 3 week groups No changes can be made to the groups once training has begun. Players can miss sessions, but we are not allowed to add new players into the group beyond the 12-player max for the full three weeks. Groups will be comprised of your team with your team coach Each player must bring their own ball which will be sprayed with disinfectant prior and after the session Players will maintain a minimum of 6 feet distance at all times during training The first Phase will have ZERO contact. Only activities that maintain 6+ feet of distancing between players will be permitted. Activities may include individual skill building and technique on the ball, passing, shooting. Health and Safety Measures: We will be taking the health and safety restrictions extremely seriously so that we can do our best to protect every player, family, coach, and member of our community. We will be following the CDC and local health and safety guidelines as well as using best practices agreed on by health supervisors and other clubs in our community. A detailed view of club health and safety measures here: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BDK2et63il58sYNY0mDAiHnFocytHMAAjQqgOmD3dRU/edit?usp=sharing Stable groups of 12 for 3 weeks minimum for contact tracing Player check ins with health and safety screening and temperature checks will be performed by coaches or volunteer personnel prior to every session Arrival and pick up times will be staggered between groups to mitigate exposure. You will have an exact arrival and departure time that is unique to your group. Coaches will be masked at all times. All coaches and staff will be trained to meet the health and safety standards All players and families will have a virtual health and safety training to prioritize safety and minimize exposure. What to bring: Soccer Ball Please have your cleats ON before getting out of the car Your own water bottle- no sharing will be permitted Your mask- players are asked wear masks for arrival and departure. They may choose to train without a mask. Hand sanitizer will be available but you are welcome to bring your own cleaning products. Bathroom usage: Bathrooms will be open from 3pm-8pm on week days and during operating hours on weekends. Bathrooms will be cleaned by Foster City officials at the start and end of the day (and once in between in weekends). We advise you to use the bathroom only in case of emergency. Bathrooms will not be cleaned during sessions and usage is at your own risk. (We have amended practice times to minimize need for restroom use). We are so excited to hit the fields with you this August! Please let us know if you have any questions or if you’re willing to help! Val Henderson Director of Coaching Peninsula Youth Soccer Club

Dear Peninsula Families, I hope you enjoyed the thank you video from our coaches. We are all deeply missing in person interaction and engagement with our soccer community. We thank you for your continued patience during this uncertain time for all of us and above all else wish everyone safety and health during a trying time. We reiterate that Peninsula stands for equality and justice for all. We celebrate our players, families, coaches, and community and want to continue to support you all as best we can. This email will address the following: • "Updates" for camps and training sessions • Our fall registration link is now live for all of our returning players • The NorCal tryout window officially opens this Saturday, June 6 - please share info • Peninsula Town Hall for returning players will be held this Thursday, June 11 at 6pm "Updates" for Peninsula camps and training sessions San Mateo county has updated it's health order to include a shelter in place exemption for "Childcare establishments, summer camps, and other educational or recreational institutions or programs providing care or supervision for children of all ages." We believe this exemption includes our services, and we are prepared to fully comply with safety protocols of the order. We have submitted a formal proposal to the city parks and recreation to grant us permits for Port Royal and Catamaran, but we have absolutely no guarantee of their agreement thus far. If and when we are able to return to the field in a modified format, we will post registration links, which will be offered for stable groups of 12 per the health order demands. At that time we will share our detailed safety protocol for participants. (Note that no player will be pressured to return. We want all of our players and family to feel safe and make decisions that best suit their needs and comfort). Fall Registration for our returning players Registration is now live for the Fall! You can register here: https://peninsulayouthsoccer.sportngin.com/register/form/800050348 This Fall we are eager to bring you the best quality training and learning environment possible. While there is still much uncertainty and much that is out of our control, we hope that you will re-commit to our Peninsula family, knowing we will do everything possible for each of your development and well-being. ALL players who were registered for Spring are invited back. Please consider registering by June 15 to allow us to organize for Fall season. The registration cost will be $50 and no further payment will be billed until 9/1 once we have a better understanding of what we are able to do. The $50 charge covers the cost of US Club Soccer Passes and insurance for the year. Billing will be monthly for all participants, as it will be adapted to the services we are able to offer. You will have the opportunity to cancel payment up to Aug 31. Below we have provided a price projection based on three different possibilities for the fall. The percentages are based on last year's cost which was $1950 for the full year for 3 sessions per week and $1700 for the full year for 2 sessions per week: Plan 1: Best Case: We are able to return to full time in person soccer: 100% season dues ⁃ All planned sessions on field ⁃ Modified or full-fledged competition based on health allowances ⁃ Weekly skills challenges provided by club ⁃ Monthly learning option provided by club (For motivational/ inspirational / tactical/ mental growth) Plan 2: Hybrid: We are able to make a partial return to the field: ~85% season dues ⁃ 1-3 sessions on field per week based on health allowances/team selections ⁃ Weekly club-wide virtual skills session provided by club ⁃ Weekly skills challenge by club ⁃ Monthly learning option provided by club (For motivational/ inspirational / tactical/ mental growth) Plan 3: Fully Virtual: ~50% regular season dues ⁃ Weekly virtual session with your specific team/group to maximize individualized coaching and development ⁃ Twice weekly club wide virtual skills sessions provided by club ⁃ Weekly skills challenge by club ⁃ Monthly learning option provided by club (For motivational/ inspirational / tactical/ mental growth) NorCal Tryout window officially opens this Saturday While we have a a lot of uncertainties for the coming months, we are still planning for a future of elite competition and performance. We invite ALL of our current players to return and ask that you forward on our boys tryout and girls tryout information to any interested players. As some clubs in our immediate area are unfortunately dropping teams and unable to maintain their plans, we would like to provide a stable place for eligible players. Players may be added to our age-groups, but no final roster changes will be made before players are able to play contact soccer. Please share our tryout information and direct any interested players to the tryout registration link. Each registrant will be contacted directly, and evaluations may be made with non-traditional means. Note- ONLY NEW players need to register for tryouts. Returning players should register at our Fall registration link. Peninsula Town Hall for returning players will be held this Thursday, June 11 at 6pm Our board and directors will be presenting the above information and making ourselves available to questions you may have. Please join us for a 40 minute Zoom this Thursday, June 11 at 6pm. Peninsula will present for 5-10 minutes and then take questions for the remaining time. This Town Hall is intended to address our current players and families on the above topics, however it is open to interested tryout players as well.
